Fortnite has the fairest armor out of any BR I've seen. Losing a gunfight because someone has a higher rarity is not skilled based.  Make the shield consumables determine how much shield you have. Small give 25 & large gives 50. You could then keep the armor in game and just give them the gold effects if you pick one up.

It is skill based you shouldn't be losing because of better armor I've out played and out gunned many ppl that are better geared than me even when I have no armor at all.

If you and another player both shoot at one another at the same time with the same gun in the same spot and neither miss & you have white armor and they have purple armor who wins that gun fight 100% of the time? THE PURPLE ARMOR!  Next?

If you see enemy has purple armor while you rock white then try to outsmart them and dont fight head on with them.
