Common gameplay issues and workarounds for Unravel [ Edited ]

You might run into a connectivity or performance problem as you play the game. Look for your issue in the table to see if an available workaround resolves it. 

Errors and issues

My level restarted and did not save my progress.	Gameplay	All	All	When you choose "Restart Level" or "Quit", you will not receive a second message asking "Are you sure you want to Restart Level?" or "Are you sure you want to quit?" Make sure you want to restart your level or quit the game whenever you choose these options.
Unravel just crashed.	Connectivity	All	PC	If your game crashes when Yarny encounters a memory, you need to update your drivers. Review our minimum requirements article to make sure your system meets the requirements.  If your game crashes when you start or crashes when you select a new game, you need to update the K-Lite Codec pack. If this does not work, uninstall the K-Lite Codec pack.
Yarny is stuck in or on objects or falling through the world.	Gameplay	All	All	If Yarny is stuck in an object or falls through the world, use these steps: 1. Hold down on the Directional pad (D-pad) on your Xbox One controller, the down button on your PlayStation 4 controller, or the END key on your keyboard. 2. If that does not work, restart the level from the pause menu.
There are no waves in the sea and I cannot progress.	Gameplay	The Sea	All	If Yarny cannot progress because there are no waves in the sea, restart the level from the pause menu.
Poor performance when you are playing offline.	Connectivity	Offline	All	If Unravel isn't performing the way it should when you're playing offline, reboot your console or PC.
The screen shakes on the Mountain Trek level.	Gameplay	Mountain Trek	All	If your screen shakes during the Mountain Trek level, restart at the checkpoint: Hold down on the Directional pad (D-pad) on your Xbox One controller, the down button on your PlayStation 4 controller, or the END key on the keyboard.
The excavator handle disappeared and I cannot progress.	Gameplay	All	All	If Yarny cannot progress because the excavator handle disappeared, restart at the checkpoint: Hold down on the Directional pad (D-pad) on your Xbox One controller, the down button on your PlayStation 4 controller, or the END key on the keyboard.
Yarny cannot get a collectible because he is stuck or running into an invisible wall.	Gameplay	All	All	If Yarny cannot get a collectible because he is stuck or running into an invisible wall, restart at the checkpoint: Hold down on the Directional pad (D-pad) on your Xbox One controller, the down button on your PlayStation 4 controller, or the END key on the keyboard.

Additional trick that may help with start-up issues:

• Go to Origin, 
• Right click on the game cover
• Select Game properties
• Enter –f in the “Command Line Arguments” dialog box
• Run the game

This should allow you to enter the game and select a higher resolution from the in-game menu.
