Titanfall servers offline, new game purchase unplayable

I have just purchased this game - but have yet to see the required servers online/working.

Why?

I've worked in the 'keep stuff running and available on the internet' business for well over a decade - I'm keeping my guesses to myself, but don't insult my intelligence.

(Community: please don't turn this into a 'complaining and wild accusations' thread, I really want to know.)

Everyone has the same issue, a hacker took over the servers and EA and Respawn refuses to fix it.
