Is the game playable now?

As the title says I am thinking to try out this game since it's on sale btw, but i am skeptical because of the attacks it had in the past.. everyone says that is en incredible game but after all I read around the internet I don't want to go into something and after a while I won't be able to play it. So I ask you the current players in what state is the game right now.

This here is the only fix for multiplayer there is since the game is abandoned by the developers.
