Can't Change Default Resolution

Running on a GTX 1060 6GB. Trying to change the resolution from what it defaulted to (2560x1440) to 1080p. When I go to apply the settings I get send back to desktop and the settings are not sticking. Any ideas? Thanks!

i have gtx 1080 and i  cant cahnge resolution higher then 1920/1080...
