Auto Chip Shield/Defensive vs Nuke

My Tone pilot on Auto Chip literally stood in front of a Self-Nuke without moving away or using a shield, and then was instantly doomed. 

P L E A S E patch this!!

later he used his shield fine in a conflict. 

should also be using buildings as cover!!
