the sims 3 game from origin keeps saying "unknown error occured"

I've always played the sims 3 from origin without any problems, but recently i got a new MacBook Air and i did everything like before, but now when i click to play the game it says "unknown error occurred". Also when I click to play the game, origin sends me a message saying something like "the download for this game is still not finished (...)" when it's obvious that its done. I dont get it, and its getting really frustrating since it's the third time that I'm uninstalling origin and the sims and installing again. HELP!

You should also be aware that the Sims 3 is not officially supported on El Capitan or Sierra either so there is no guarantee it will work
