My Sims 3 game will not launch due to an unknown error. I downloaded the sims 3 on my MacBook Pro last week and have contacted tech support multiple times and have downloaded the super patch, created a different macOS and the problem still occurred, and deleted the sims preference folder. Also, I have made sure everything is up to date. if anyone can help please do so  this is getting frustrating

@MA0330  Just a note, if you've uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times, you may want to make sure all of the files from the previous install are gone before proceeding.

The Unknown Error you're seeing is to be expected whenever installing certain packs (Ambitions, Late Night, Fast Lane, and Outdoor Living) on a mac.  Certain files do not get copied to their proper destination, so you have to do so manually.  You may also need to create an alias for one of these packs to launch the game, if one does not already exist in your Applications folder alongside the alias for the base game.

Applying the Super Patch (digital download version) is always a good idea on mac installs, as the launcher wasn't built to handle all that patch data at once.  Hopefully, the above steps fix your issue, but if not, you might want to read the post linked below about other causes of the unknown error.  All mac operating systems since Mountain Lion have been incompatible to some degree with TS3, and many graphics cards are difficult to work with as well.  Depending on your specs, you may or may not be able to to get the game running on your computer.

If you still can't launch your game, please post your mac's specs here (see below) and list your version of OS X, as well as the packs you want to run.
