Unkown error occurs after installing sims 3 on Mac from origin, doesn't launch

★ Novice

I have a new Mac and installed everything on it hoping that the problem I encountered on my MacBook Pro would be gone but it's not

@me_emszy  I was asking if you'd uninstalled any Sims 3 packs, because if so, you'd need to start with a clean uninstall, removing the hidden library files that the game's uninstaller doesn't reach.  But if you haven't uninstalled anything, you can just apply the two usual workarounds.

The first is easy: create an alias for any pack that doesn't already have one in Applications, alongside the alias for the base game.  So for you, that would be Ambitions, Late Night, and Fast Lane (cars).  Here's how to do it:

The second step is to copy a folder for each affected pack into the folder for your newest pack by the date it was released.  Your newest pack is Supernatural, so all the other folders go into Supernatural's folder.  The same packs are affected: Ambitions, Late Night, and Fast Lane.  Be sure to repeat the process for all three of these packs, or the game won't launch.  This video explains where to find the folders and how to copy them to their proper destination:

If you do all of this and still get an unknown error, please provide your computer's specs, as described in the link in my previous post.  There may be another workaround that you need to apply, depending on your graphics card, but I won't know what to recommend unless I know the model of your card.

@me_emszy  Can you please list the packs you've installed?  A few of them don't install properly, but the usual workarounds should fix the issue.  Let me know if you've uninstalled anything from this computer as well.

And, just to be thorough (there might be another workaround to apply), please provide the specs of your Mac, as described in this post:

I have pets, cars stuff, high end stuff, generations, ambitions, late night, travel and the supernatural. I think that the last one may be the culprit. I have uninstalled anything, the computer is pretty much as it was when I bought it.

Thanks for taking the time Standard smile)
