I recently bought, downloaded, and installed Sims 3 for my Mac via Orgin. Here's my info:
Macbook Pro9,2 (13-inch, Mid 2012)
2.5 GHz Intel Core i5
16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Intel HD Graphics 4000 1536 MB
macOS High Sierra 10.13.2
After installing, I try opening and I get an "unknown error" that won't allow me to even open the game.
Here's what I tried:
I went into the info.plist and changed the S3Launcher.exe to TS3W.exe and it gave me this error:
"service initialization failed 0x0175dcbb"
I used the most recent patch- did nothing.
I've gone in to the graphicscard.sgr and graphicsrules.sgr and changed some things as this post says: https://bluebellflora.com/fix-for-incompatible-graphics-for-the-sims-3-on-mac/
but my mac wasn't on that list and none of the others worked.
I've reinstalled about 5 times now.
There's no cache data because I haven't been able to play.
Not sure what else to do?
I'm real upset cause I just bought this game without knowing it had issues with macs.
Please help!!

Your Mac isn't listed in my graphics instructions because it is supported. High Sierra however is not supported. Please read the Sims 3 Mac help thread on the Mac forum for further explanation - https://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-Mac/READ-FIRST-Sims-3-Mac-Help-Guides-and-Troubleshooting/m-p/749...

I had El Capitan before and it still didn't work, so I updated to High Sierra hoping it would fix the issue

As you can see from the thread I linked to, no macOS past Mountain Lion is compatible.
