didnt even know there was one. i just bought this computer so I figured it was up to date

It may be new but it would have been built several weeks/months ago in the factory (10.14.2 was released in December last year). Also depends on where you bought it from and how good they are with their stock rotation. Go to System Preferences > Software update for the update.
