Anyone who is the original owner of a physical disc copy of the base game or a pack can also download a digital version from Origin.  If you haven't already, go to the Sims 3 Store (https://store.thesims3.com/) and create an account.  Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click "Register a game," and then input your key codes.

Once your codes have been linked to your account, download Origin and sign in under the same credentials.  Your Origin library should list TS3 among your games; any packs you own will be listed in tabs towards the bottom of the screen.  You can download everything from there for free.  It would probably be best to install the base game first and then manually apply the Super Patch (digital version) to patch to level 1.67.  After you know it works, you can start installing the packs.  If you own Ambitions, Late Night, Fast Lane, or Outdoor Living, you'll probably receive an Unknown Error message after you install them and will need to apply two workarounds to fix it.

If you still can't run the game, post back here with your macbook's specs.  None of the newer macs work well with TS3, and neither do the last few OS, but some combinations of graphics card and processor are more difficult to work with than others.
