[MAC] New Update for Sims 4 = Game Gone [ Edited ]

I've just installed Sims 4's latest update. I play my Sims 4 game through Origin on my Mac Mini.
Once the install had completed The Sims 4 had a grey shadow over it and wouldn't play. So I closed Origin and reopened it.
Nothing had changed.
I right cliked on the Sims 4 icon and clicked 'repair game'. It did the repair successfully and then the grey shadow was gone and I could play!

Success!! NOT

The game loaded to the main menu. I clicked the play button, and it started a whole new game.
I immediately went to google and followed instructions to find the 'saved' game folder for Sims 4 on my Mac. It was empty with only one game - the new one it just wanted me to start.

Absolutely gutted. 170 hours gone. A very committed game, with so much invested in it. Sims levelled up to top stats, traits, rewards, achievements, experiences, careers, a mansion, a family, a house that was expanded on from the the starting Sim and always occupied by the original Sim's family... just so so much invested , explored and enjoyed - gone.

Anyone else had this issue?

Can you both do a Spotlight search for your old saves? Try these:

Slot_00000001.save

Slot_00000001.save.ver0

Slot_00000002.save

Slot_00000002.save.ver0

It shouldn't have happened. Can anyone explain why? Is my game definitely gone for good?

Hey Everyone!

I bought Sims 4 nearly 1 month ago and since then it has been updated twice.

On both times my whole data and backups (families and households) were deleted and the tutorials and all were shown again. Just as I had started the game the first time.

I looked for the saves also in the save folder of the program, but they were gone.

Can anybody tell me what I should do now? 

It is not that awful that my households and stuff is deleted, but in the future it would be super annoying to always make new families without the possibility to keep them. Also it would be annoying to never update the game again. That is really no fun and not the sense of the purchase.

I hope that someone could help me

PS.: I've got a Macbook Pro Retina 13" with the newest version (OSX El Capitan)

Can you both please answer the following:

- Are you running any antivirus?
- Have you used a clean up app recently to get rid of unwanted files from your Mac (CCleaner, Clean My Mac, MacKeeper etc.)

- If you use CC/Mods did you move them out before updating? 

- Can you load a specific save from the Main Menu?
- What Expansion, Stuff and Game Packs do you have installed?

No

No. No option to load anything and no files in the saved folder.
