I did a soft ware update and now my sims 4 won't play

I did a software update on my MacBook Air and now when I try to turn my sims 4 on it try to load but says its not responding and then I have to force shut it down. I have tried every thing I can think of like uninstalling it then re downloading it but its not working so I don't know what to do as I really like playing on it.
