Game Data Gone/Misplaced Files [ Edited ]

Basically what the title says. My Sims 4 game displays no New game/Load game buttons, and shows me as having no saved content (households, sims, lots, etc.). I'm not sure what I did to mess this up, exactly, but boy did I. All files are still accessible on my computer in my Sims 4 folder, just not in game.

Does anyone know how to fix this? I looked around online but nothing seemed to click.

I somehow have multiple EA/Sims 4 folders, and I'm pretty sure this could be causing my trouble. Dunno if this is as helpful, but there's also a Sims 4 folder in my trash files. Afaik it's nothing different than any of my other ones.

Ok. Could you please locate one of your saves that isn't loading and click on it once to select it, now go to File > Get info to bring up the info window. Look under General then Where and c/p the location of the save here.

Do you have iCloud Drive enabled to store your Desktop and Documents folder in the cloud? If so you need to disable it and keep your Documents folder stored locally on your Mac. If the game cannot access a Sims 4 folder in Documents > Electronic Arts when it loads, it will create a new folder so the game will be like new.

No, at one point I toggled with those settings, but iCloud has been disabled for that stuff for a while.

@Bluebellflora never mind! i'm stupid! just moved a different folder from the desktop into my ea folder in documents. thanks for trying to help me through this, i needed that start to realize what i had done

Yep, it needs to be in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4
