Expansion Pack Won't Work

After I bought the ambitions expansion pack my Sims 3 will not open.  I have bought other expansion packs that work just fine; any ideas how I get can this to work?  Whenever I try to open Sims 3 I get an error message.  I am also not eligible for a return on this game, so if I could get it to work that would be great.
