sims FP: sims acting sick, objects not reacting, kindle fyre

On my mom's Kindle Fyre, her sims are acting like they're sick or scared and not following directions, even though they're all inspired.  And her objects...fridge, toilet, etc...have stopped responding to clicks.  Help!  She's driving me crazy!  

(Also, we've already tried just turning the KF off and on again...no workie.   )
