i have a preteen girl but he was a baby boy

i have my sims family one boy and a girl when i made the cake i gave  it to my baby boy and it turned into a girl i want to know why he is a girl now and how can i change that? He is going to ballet and i dont have enough money or diamonds to change him, please help
