Why cant consumable purchases be restored

In Sims free play, I somewhat understand that consumables can't be restored but why exactly can't they and for what reason.  You can restore items but not lifepoints, socialpoints or simoleons? These precious players and costumers deserve all or at least some of their purchase or a voucher.
