@Orac9

OK, please answer a few questions.

Is still only the Origin version of TS3 installed?

Did you ever installed the Steam version on this new Windows 10 installation?

How is the exact error message if you try to install DirectX 9 by hand?

What is your Origin version number? (Origin menu > Help > About)

Please also load up a new DxDiag.

@holger1405  I've made sure everything is up to date, but there seems to be an 1803 update that refuses to install because I already have 1804 on the system..

Is still only the Origin version of TS3 installed?

Yes, I only installed the steam on as a test to see if it would work, then removed it.

Did you ever installed the Steam version on this new Windows 10 installation?

Yes, but it's not installed now.

How is the exact error message if you try to install DirectX 9 by hand?

I get the same error every time from directX, manually installed or not,

Screen shots for that are in past messages.

What is your Origin version number? (Origin menu > Help > About)

10.5.38.25.027 - 0

Please also load up a new DxDiag.

Attached.

@holger1405   here is a screen shot of the update failure, it gets to 25% every time, then stops, flashes and goes back to 0%

Re: sims3

@Orac9

OK. First things first.

There is no Windows version 1804.

What you have is Build 17134. That is Redstone 4 or version 1803.

There are several Windows update failures in the DxDiag, so the entire problem might be related indeed.

I would suggest that you try to update to Windows version 1809, rather then to try to repair this version.

(This is normally a save process, still make a backup of all your important data before you start the process described below.)

  • Use Microsoft Edge or the Internet Explorer to open this Microsoft website.
  • Click on "Update now".
  • Let Windows install the new build.
  • Start Origin as Administrator. (Right click the Origin shortcut at the Desktop > Run as an Administrator.)
  • Try the installation of TS3 again.

Please report any problem.

Re: sims3

@Orac9

Couldn't be that easy. Wink

But we should get that working as well.

  • Hit Windows key and X.
  • Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Command prompt (Administrator),” whichever option is offered.
  • Inside the PowerShell or CMD, enter (copy and paste) “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealthwithout quotes. > ENTER.
  • The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please post it here.
  • After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key and X again.
  • Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Command prompt (Administrator)”
  • Inside the PowerShell or CMD, enter (copy and paste) “sfc /scannow” without quotes. > ENTER.
  • Post the message you receive at the end of the processes here.

Furthermore, post a new DxDiag again. (To see if everything is as it should be after the update.)
