game trouble

HI, I have been having trouble with the sims 3 game. It keeps updating/downloading, It has updated/downloaded 6-7 times now and it takes about 5-6 hours. I just barley bought this game a couple days ago. I haven't got to play it once. This is making me very frustrated. I don't now how to make it stop, all I want to do is play it. How can I make it stop?
