every time I try to save my game it crashes and this message comes up
"The Sims 3 has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.
Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution
is available"
what can I do to save my game without any problems?
is there a patch I can download to fix it??
Please help!!

This issue is related to buiilding walls.
Not sure on what triggers it but it might be connected to either the weather or the christmas lights. Make sure to turn the christmas lights for your home off and also turn off any snow or weather effect.

you are right it does happen after building something with walls.
I was building a house in summer and clear weather and there were no Christmas lights.
can this also happen when you don't update the game? I have been avoiding updating it for a few weeks now because it takes forever and I usually just wanna play the sims straight away
thanks for your help!

It's a problem with the seasons patch 1.42.
You would need to roll-back (reinstall the base game, uninstall seasons if you have it and manually patch to 1.39) if you don't want this issue.
EA is aware and looking into it.
