Why is Origin making me download Sims 3 when I bought the disc version??

I purchased the Sims 3 starter pack today. When I went to install it through autorun, it made me install origin. Origin made me register the game through ea.com in order to install it. Now origin has the game in my library, but it is making me download the game. I have the DISCS. Why is it making me download the files?

Is there some way to install these games directly from the disc? These downloads are taking forever!
