I just installed sims 3 world adventures and I updated it as I got a warning to do this before I started playing. But once I had got the update it didn't open the launcher, and whenever I try to open it, it says "unknown error occurred". Now I can't open sims 3 at all! Please help.

I'll bring this to the attention of our mac helper on here but I can't promise you a fast answer. We're all users here and do our best but we all have a RL that comes first.

The last patch didn't work very well for people when they tried to use the launcher.
Check what patch your base game is following these instructions...go to your Sims folder under Documents and open up the text file "Version.tag." (You can open this file with the application "TextEdit" if it asks you to choose one.) What number does it list? If it doesn't start with 1.50...you need to try patching manually.
