Hi,
So I've had Sims 3 and the majority of the expansion pack since their release. But for in December I got a Windows 8 laptop and 3 Sims add-ons. Since this time I've has many problems with The Sims. Now I'm dealing with one we've all probably encountered- where Sims shuts down and the pop up appears saying it's searching for a solution.
Anyway I've found this answer: https://help.ea.com/article/dep-settings-for-sims-3-on-vista-and-windows-7
But for Windows 8 as soon as I get to Game->Bin-> what's supposed to be in the Bin isn't there. However when I go onto the Bin file out of advanced system settings I can find all the needed files in Bin.
Thanks for any help x

So you're saying when you're trying to add to DEP, the file is not there but if you look in your bin folder it is ?
Do you have admin rights on your computer ? At what point does your game crash ?
Good Luck

Yeah, it's there in the Bin folder when I'm out of DEP. However the file needed, when I can reach it, it's icon is the one of the blank paper with a corner turned- instead of TS3 icon.
Yep it's my personal laptop and about 10 minutes in, usually when I'm in buy/build mode

EDIT: I do however have parental controls on my computer.
But I think it has something to do with the icon of the file- as if I haven't got a certain app to open it with.

Sorry to post again, but I now think I know what I need to do. However again there's a fault
My file is: TS3SP07.ex_
It needs to be: TS3SP07.exe
I don't know or have the correct app to open it with
and in Command Prompt when I tried to expand the file its says it's unable to do so
I'd be really thankful for help from anyone

Are you looking in the right folder ? Do you have the disc or download version ?

Pretty sure it's this:
Computer > DVD RW Driver (D Sims3SP07 > Game > Bin
Annddd the disc version

That's the file on the DVD. You need to add the installed game file.
c:\programs\electronicarts\thesims3\game\bin for a 32 bit system
or
c:\programs(x86)\electronicarts\thesims3\game\bin for a 64 bit system
the drive might vary depending on where you installed the game.
