(Yes, some of the hardware is being read incorrectly, but that's kind of the point—TS3 doesn't always get these things right.)

What happens if you remove your Sims 3 folder from Documents\Electronic Arts, but don't change any options at the Main Menu?  Does a new save look exactly the same, or are the graphics any better?  And please let me know if you've attempted any edits to the game's graphicsrules and graphicscards.sgr files.

@escapedpolarbear  As I thought, it looks like TS3 isn't picking up your graphics card correctly.  Did you or anyone else try to edit the game's graphicscards and graphicsrules.sgr files to force card recognition?  The watery graphics can be a side effect of a typo in the edited files.

I can send you the proper text to add to the files, if you want.  Just let me know, and I'll get it ready.
