Sims3 keeps crashing

I get on my sims 3 and every time I try to create new sims it crashes or when I play with old sims for 5 mins it crashes. I'm playing on a Lenovo laptop with windows 8. I use to play for hours and now I can't even play for half an hour. Someone please help me so I don't have to clear my computer unless that's what I have to do.

What is your operating system
At what point does your game crash ? Any regularities ?
How long can you usually play ?
Which EP/SPs do you have installed ?
Are you using custom content and mods in your game ?
