Sims 3 wont launch since updating Origin

★★★ Newbie

Today I attempted to play the sims for the first time in over a year. But I downloaded the new Origin (first update since about 2015) and now i cannot play the sims at all. On the origin account i have simcity 2000 which plays fine but not the sims. I've tried restarting the computer, redownloading the game, everything.

@TiarnLouise  Try clearing Origin's cache, and if that doesn't work, uninstalling and reinstalling Origin itself ("the hard way").

It also might help to remove your TS3 game folder from Documents, at least temporarily.  If the game launches again, a clean folder will spawn with no content, and if you can play in that folder, you can move your saves and any other files you want to keep from the old folder to the new one.

If these steps don't help, can you describe what happens when you try to launch the game?  How do you start, and what do you see?  (error messages, Origin closing and opening, nothing at all, etc.)  There are so many reasons that TS3 might not work, it's difficult to give any other recommendations without narrowing things down a bit.
