Sims 3 won't recognize pets

I have the base game and University Life installed. I recently just got pets but when I try to play, University Life launches. At the launch screen, it says my game is installed. I already tried to fix this problem and I was case number 09833022. I was told to download the super patch and I did but it didn't solve my problem. I'm not sure what to do now. Please help.

university is the newest game so your game will play from the university installation or for example you buy the movie stuf pack then your game will play from that or if you buy late night today and install it your game will launch from uni as it is the newest one and as long as the pets game icon in the launcher is highlighted then it is installed and ready to play
