Sims 3 registration

I downloaded a Sims 3 expantion from origin. When I tried to register the product code, it gave me a message saying "The serial code you entered is invalid. Please enter a valid serial code and re-submit". I am absolutely sure I entered the code correctly. I could not how to register my game with the code, and I tried many times. I have the digital downloaded version, so I don't have the game psychically, or the manual. Please help!
