Sims 3 pets as gift?

 Hello, 

 I tried to purchase the sims 3 Pets pack for a friend of mine.   She bought her Sims 3 in Sweden, if that makes a difference.   I ordered it and sent her the confirmation email with the serial code so that she could download it.  When tried it said that the code was already in use. ???  But i dont even have the original SIms 3 and i did not use the code.. i sent it to her immediately.

Any suggestions on what we are doing wrong?

I was getting the same message for some of my expansions when I tried to register them.  But, the weird thing was, the code must have been registered while I was installing the game? When I went in to register the game myselt, it was already registered.  I didn't see the icon filled in for the game on my webpage, so I thought I must have a bad code or someone hacked it?  But the game plays just fine with the expansions.  So, although I don't know why this happened.....It didn't seem to get in the way either.
