Sims 3 base game download issue

I bought The Sims 3 from Gamefly a couple of weeks ago. The zip will not open to even start the download. I keep getting error messages. I've checked and it's not my connection. Gamefly recommended I try Origin. When I did that, it said it couldn't open the code I had and to try downloading it the Sims website. All I'm seeing there is to register the game. I did that and I'm still stuck with no game. I've done several things I've seen on forums and none of it has worked. 

Help please?

did you download and install origin? if not downlaod origin use the same email and password as you have on the sims account to log in to origin see if your game show up in the my games tab then download https://www.origin.com/ie/activate/create

Choose a category, a game and a platform for the contact options to show up.
If live chat is gray, change your country to US and make sure you're on US Business hours. It might also gray because they're very busy. Try later.
