Sims 3 University- trouble moving in

I just tried to move a sim to University, and since this is my first time using the University aspect of the game, I was very excited. However, when the university appeared, my sim was nowhere to be found. I selected a household in hopes that my sim would appear there, but now I'm stuck playing for 12 days in the world with 7 frat guys (AKA every girl's worst nightmare). Please help me find my sim! I even tried killing all of them off (it had to be done), but when I selected moving back home, it wouldn't finish loading. I've tried this multiple times.
