Sims 3 University Problem

So I am playing in Lucky Palms. I have a single sim and a pet. I sent the sim to university as a Technology major, but when it loaded up, it showed the options for starting a new game (i.e. create a household, choose a household, move in a household). My sim was NOWHERE to be found and I mean NOWHERE. I can't put him in a dorm now. Also he has a job in the fire department though I do not think that affects as I've had a young adult with a part-time job go to university and complete it successfully. 

When I was playing University in another town (Riverview), I added a fire station in there from the community lots. Could that have messed it up? It's really infuriating and I want my Lucky Palms Sim to be able to go to school Thanks!

The Sims doesn't arrive at Uni bug is common and related to the same error that occurs with WorldAdventures.
