can i get simpoints for free? if so how should i do?

You get free Simpoints with the base game and world adventures but other than that, no. They cost money, that's how you get them.
One possibility you have are sites that give you 'currency' for doing stuff. Often that currency can later be redeemed at amazon or the likes. There you could get a EA Game card to buy simpoints.
