Pets will not install on my Mac

I have purchased and downloaded Sims Pets for my game, and it refuses to install, or freezes during the installation process. I've tried closing and re-opening origin, and I've even tried restarting my laptop, but it does not seem to want to work.

Have you tried uninstalling Origin and reinstalling it? This explains how: https://help.ea.com/article/manually-uninstalling-origin

I tried re-installing Origin and the same thing happens. It continues to freeze during the instalation process. I think there might be an error with the current 1.50 version of Sims 3. Do you think I should re-install Sims 3 and only update it after I've installed Pets?

I think it's best to update your base game before installing eps so I don't know if doing it that way would help.  I'm not sure why you're having so much trouble.  I have the latest patch and have all EPs and SPs digitially downloaded from Origin at the moment.    

What patch is your game?  Are you absolutely sure it's patched to 1.50?  That patch has had problems with the launcher so you should double-check that.  You can open the text file "Version.tag" that's in your Sims folder under documents--that will list your base game version.

The only other thing I can think of if your game is patched correctly would be trying a complete manual uninstall of Origin and the games (which is annoying and time consuming).  I don't know what else you could try instead.

Not sure if this helps, but it says that the version of Sims 3 I have is "More recent than expected" and that it could be "incompatable".

I'm not sure what this means. I'm slightly distressed.

That error is okay to ignore as long as your base game is patched to the most recent version.  (says this post at the bottom: https://help.ea.com/article/the-sims-3-super-patcher)

I applied the patch and the problem is still there. The installer for Pets says that it's More recent than expected and during the install, it freezes at exactly 36 out of 104 items every. single. time.

I will ask again: Should I uninstal and re-install my sims 3 and install pets before I install the update, or is there something else? This is getting slightly frustraiting.

You could go ahead and try that, but most people think it's better to patch the base game before adding EPs.  I'm not sure why this is happening to you.
