Loading expansion packs for Sims 3

Loading Sims 3 onto a new Laptop. SIms 3 basic has loaded and downloaded all the updates & runs. We have several expansion packs but when we load one the message simply says we need to install sims 3 to load the pack - well it is loaded and runs? can you help. Thanks you

• What's your operating system ?
• Did you install the game to the default location ?
• Are both your base game and expansion dvd/origin or is there any steam involved ?
• What is your base game version right now ?
  
  Open the launcher and check the number in the lower left corner.
  
  If you're not at 1.67, please update your game.
