I bought the sims 3 on Steam and have been playing it for a long time. Purchased the CD ROM of World adventures and when I try to install it it says I dont have Sims 3 installed. What do I do??

@allixandra95 are you installing the CD through Steam?
I'm not 100% sure how it works all works with Steam, but it makes sense to me if you install it through Steam it should be okay?
Also, are you updated to 1.67? To check, open the game launcher and look in the left hand corner. The digits there should read 1.67 - if they don't, download the super patch here: http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-3/FAQ-Current-Patch-1-67-Manual-links-and-more/td-p/67858

afaik i know only steam versions work with steam origin and or disks do not work with steam , so basically what is happening there for you is could be the WA is looking for your the sims3 base game either a disk or origin download it does not recognize the steam version as the default paths are different so the only way to get it to work is to which you may not want to do is this get your sims 3 codes from steam redeem them in origin uninstall the steam versions then download and install them from origin having said all that
see if this guide can help you http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-3/FAQ-Steam-VS-Origin-VS-Discs/td-p/3135440
