Does anyone know how Nraas story progression works?

★★★★ Novice

I am looking at getting Nraas Story Progression but I have so many questions and I can't really find the answers in the short time I have. I saw there was a few 20-30 minute videos probably explaining thoroughly but I don't have the time, not at the moment. I can get to them next week, but I have several questions.

If I disable the mod Story Progression, will it disable aging or will it go to base game story progression?

How do I make it so it's not hectic in romance?

If I have certain settings for story progression (the town) does that involve my sims too? So theoretically if I have story progression set so it's not so hectic in romance (no teen pregnancy and no hoping around from partner to partner) would that include my Sims too?

Yup, that's all the question I have, for now. Thank you for answering my questions!

Re: Does anyone know how Nraas story progression works?

@SparkleQueen2142  I can answer a few of your questions, but if you want more details, you really should ask over at NRaas.  The developer and a few admins still provide support for the mods, and if you ask your questions, they and/or any number of other players will be happy to help you sort things out.  It might be best to describe specifically the effects you want in-game, and then people can list the settings you'd need.

Unlike most NRaas mods, which either don't add to game overhead or actually decrease it (by cleaning up errors), SP can be quite demanding to run.  On a computer like yours, you might notice a significant hit in performance, especially if you have some of the more demanding packs in play.

SP allows you to set up groups of sims, called castes, and specify whole lists of allowable behavior for the entire group.  Castes can be automatic, meaning any sim who fits the criteria you set will be placed in the caste, or manual, where you add the sims you want yourself.

You can change options at the town, lot, household, caste, or sim level, in order of priority, meaning that options you've set for one particular sim will supercede the options for the sim's household, which will supercede those for a lot, etc.  (I believe that caste options fall in priority between household and sim options, but don't quote me on that.)  So if you want one set of rules for the town in general, another for a special group of preferred sims, and yet another for your active household, it's easy to accomplish.

One effect of this setup to note is that if you change a setting in town options, for example, and don't tinker with it for the sims in your active household, that town option will apply to your own sims too.

You can use SP to disable aging for sims, castes, etc. but if you don't specifically do this (or the mod isn't active), your settings in game options will govern aging.

Unless you manually change the settings, SP will not allow anyone to be pregnant, or get someone else pregnant, that would violate EA's own rules governing pregnancies.

If you set the pace of SP to slow or snail, the progression's cycles will be longer, meaning that you'll see fewer changes for a given span of time.  If romance is still proceeding at too "hectic" a pace, you could disallow romance for a particular sim or group.

Again, you'll get more specific help at NRaas; people there are always happy to assist.  You do need to be a member to post, but it's easy enough to create an account.  Your questions could go either in Chatterbox (if you have general mod questions) or on StoryProgression's dedicated board.

The website is currently a bit unstable, so if you can't get through, try again later.  The issues should be cleared up in a couple of weeks.  In the meantime, if you want more information about StoryProgression, here are the interactions lists from both the new and the old site (via the Wayback Machine):

I don't work for EA. I'm just trying to help fellow players with their games.
