This problem has been two days now for me. I'm frustrated. On Friday night, I had no problems connecting and Saturday and Sunday no connections. What is the issues!

Are you getting an error message ?
I still can't login ingame either. Getting a connection has been lost error.

I've been having the same issue. It is very frustrating. I wish they would fix it.

I have had the same problem! Downloaded Seasons through Origin (which took over 2 DAYS to do), and now I can't play any of my Sims 3 games because I keep getting a message that says "There is a problem connecting to the server. Please ensure your internet connection is active. If the problem persists try again later." When did I start needing an internet connection to play Sims 3?! Very frustrating.

When you downloaded the game through Origin.
It should be a one time verification thing though. After that you can play offline.
