Recent update erased all progress. Back to square one, literally.

After my Tapped Out app updated last week, all my progress was erased. I was on level 47 but now I'm back to square one, literally. This is the second time this has happened after since I started playing the game more than a year ago. How do I restore all my progress?

A friend of mine has this issue right now he can't get into his Springfield he has lost everything it keep starting over at the very beginning and it's happened to me about 3 or 4 times in the last three years and what I have done was uninstalled the game reinstalled it and try to log back in normally you will get all your stuff back

Before re-installing you should force close the game and restart (you might also want to restart your device before attempting to play.  See if the log in button appears in the lower left corner.

If you do re-install be sure to wait until ALL updates have finished downloading before trying to log in or play.  I know it says "Tap to Play while the game loads", but that's only for new players.
