Problem with NPC characters received as a reward from the mystery box

I received a non-player character as a prize in the mystery box of this event and I am unable to complete his quest.

I am asked to touch it, but nothing happens!

If you have this problem, report it below.
I received these plague rats; they don't have a questline, but they are still, motionless, doing nothing! If you touch them, nothing happens. They don't move. They cannot be moved, only archived.

This issue has now been resolved as of the latest update. 

This issue has been confirmed by the TSTO team and they are working on a solution at this time.

The NPC's that we know are affected by this issue (not tappable / showing up as an Idle Character in the top left of the game screen despite having no jobs) are as follows:

Same thing happened to me. When I updated the game, I saw boxes in the left corner normally reserved for tasked characters l, but these instead were Non playable characters (see photo). When clicking on the boxes, it led me to the NPC, yet when I clicked on it I saw no animation or heard any noise, yet I had my sound effects on. I had to store these characters and I presume this is what is happening in the game with others. Please fix this EA!!!

I gotten the wise cracking parrot from the mystery box, a quest came up which tells me to tap the parrot 3 times.  Nothing happened, doesn't do animation and doesn't crack jokes.   

I haven't tapped the rats but would be the same anyways.

Also (?) there seems to be a bug about this:

In my case there are symbols for the last active person or active notice (like furniture) instead of an NPC. But clicking on it sends me to the next NPC-Animal (most of all Snowball2)
