This is my old tablet with a jittery touch screen.  I was keeping it in case I needed it for parts, but I just found out I may be able to repair it cheaply.

Tried turning SFX and music off & on several times; no change. Uninstalled the game and reinstalled. No sound except just before Springfield shows up there are chicken sounds for a couple of seconds then abruptly cut off. July 18th. Long time no hear.

I play on a Samsung Galaxy S4 on Android 6, and the audio randomly cuts and never comes back

The game has sound until you touch a character or a character icon, then a couple of seconds afterwards it goes silent.

I had the same problem, but I managed to fix it by doing this:

- Open Origin

- Select My Game Library

- Right click on Sims 4 and select repair

Origin will verify the Sims 4 files and download any repairs (which it did for me). Please note, Origin will also verify all your expansion packs, so be patient. Anyway when I restarted the game the sound had returned. Yeah!.

Edit: also i must note that, besides the no sound problem, there is something else: watch one of the ingame cutscenes, sound works but when the cutscene ends the game crashes.

Have the same issue. NO SOUND after the games master update and still no sound after today's update 7-26-2020. I am using a Samsung TAB - A 2016 running android 8.1.0. App was downloaded from Play store. The game was updated for the new event, but the sound problem remains, you hear some sounds for a few seconds when the game starts, but then it becomes completely silent.
