Looks like we're not the only ones having this problem, there are several reviews on the Google Play app saying the same thing.

I'm having this same problem with Version 4.53.0 on both my iPhone and iPad.

Here are is the iPhone information requested:

Device model: iPhone 13 Pro Max

Android/IOS version: IOS Version 15.1.1

Amount of free space on the device: 154.7 GB Free

Where you are running into the crash: On startup, receives "Cannot Connect to Server" "Sorry about that.  Maybe if you hit retry..."

Retry does nothing but returns the same can't connect to server screen.  Power off/Power on doesn't help.  Reloading the App from the App Store doesn't help.

On the title screen after I "tap to continue". I get the spinning donut for a bit then it crashes (Tapped Out has stopped).

After what has been said about storage I installed an SD card and now have just over 4GB spare. 

However, it appears to have made no difference as I'm still not getting past the title screen.

I have just over 11GB free on my device and I am experiencing this issue as well. Following the troubleshooting has the same results as the OP.

I am having the same problem.  Get to the splash screen, donut spins, then throws me out of the game.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled.  Tried force stop etc.  No changePlaying on kindle HD8 6th gen

Running Fire is 5.6.8.0

After the last update of my iPhone I cannot play.

Issue. The game crashes after access. This happened right after the Christmas update.
