Adding friends problem

I am unable to add anyone on Simpson’s tapped out. I’m very confused why it won’t let me.

What happens when you try to add a friend?  Does it freeze the game?  Do you have a Samsung or Motorola (and a few other odd brands) device?  There is a glitch in the game that is causing some devices to have no sound, freeze up when you access a virtual keyboard, etc.
