why did my account's progression get reset?

I started playing this game when it first came out and I wanted to play the new season. I was probably around lv 40 or 50 when I last played with legendary skins and all characters before the release of wattson. I am really upset and probably won't play this game now due to this reason. Why would you guys reset people's progression in a game without cause?
