Won't connect to EA servers

I keep seeing something about opening ports to be able to connect to the EA servers.... Can someone explain what I need to do in order to play online? This is ridiculous that it is this complicated just to play online...disappointed in you EA!

Highly recommended to play via wired connection, EA sports games in particular are pretty bad with wifi
