Why isn't my PS4 controller supported on Origin?

When I play Rocket League on Steam my PS4 controller is automatically recognized without any 3rd party programs. When I try to play NFS on Origin my PS4 controller is not recognized and apparently I need some 3rd party garbage programs to make it work. Why isn't one of the two major controllers supported by Origin, but it is on Steam? Seems like it should be supported unless EA has some hidden deal with Microsoft.

I fully agree with the OP. Steam supports is natively - Origin should too. You don't need the usb wireless adapter if you already have Bluetooth. This should be on the dev team's roadmap if it isn't already.
