Two friends in party, start game - both end up in different games

What's going on here?

Are we doing something wrong?

We start, both in the same party - talking away. He is on PSVR in Canada, I'm on PC in UK.

Either can be lobby leader - it doesn't matter.

When either lobby leader starts the game, we connect to a game, but then we're both in our own different games.
