Stuck on Loading Screen

Hello hello!

My apologies if this has been covered elsewhere, but I just installed SWTOR free-to-play and it will not even progress past the loading screen. It patched just fine and it launched, but it launches it in a tiny window in the upper left-hand corner. It stays on the loading splash page and...does nothing beyond that. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, followed  this repair guide, and haven't had any luck. Has anybody else encountered this? I'm running an Alienware from about 2013 (please don't slay me) that should be more than capable of running the game, on Windows 8. I can copy and paste specs as-requested.

I appreciate any and all helpful thoughts/feedback, and hope I can get this resolved.

When you launch the game and it goes to the tiny window press the ALT + enter keys to shift to window mode

Thank you so much for your help! I did a bit more fiddling and it seems to be running now.
